Stephen Sossaman is a writer and speaker, and visiting professor in Hollins University's MFA in Playwriting program. He is emeritus Professor of English at Westfield State College in Massachusetts, where he taught creative writing and literature before retiring early. Upon his retirement, the college created the Stephen Sossaman Award for the best creative writer among graduating seniors. His poems and stories have appeared in such journals as The Paris Review, Southern Humanities Review, South Carolina Review, Columbia Review, Icon,The Formalist, Kentucky Poetry Review, Centennial Review, Dalhousie Review, Southern Review (Australia), Antigonish Review, The Amherst Review, Magic Realism, Tamaqua, The Carleton Miscellany, Ball State University Forum, Red Wheelbarrow, and South Coast Poetry Review. His three poetry chapbooks are The My Tho Laundry, Anonyms, and Debriefings. He authored Writing Your First Play. His most recent play, The Discourse of Folly, was developed at the 2007 Earl Hamner Playwriting Conference. His Dostoevsky and Rykova was produced at Play On Theatre in Charlottesville in 2007.
